The Gift Field

We are taught to think in models, frameworks and paths.

That change is something we walk toward. That we start from here and strive to reach there, a better role, a clearer purpose, a solved problem. That transformation is a linear project: a plan, a set of goals, an upward motion. That’s never felt exactly right, but I couldn’t see another way until we worked with Theory U.

In my work alongside system leaders and community partners, we were invited into a very different kind of process. Instead of diagnosing problems and designing interventions, we were asked to slow down. To listen. To sense the field. To enter a deeper curve of awareness, where we could let go of old perceptions and allow something new to come through us, not from us.

This wasn’t just a professional insight. It was personal.

It gave me permission to step out of the narrow space of the small “I” and into a wider, more relational field; a space where potential wasn’t forced, but drawn forth. Where change wasn’t about effort, but emergence. It was a shift from trying to make things happen to cultivating the conditions where they naturally could. And that changed everything.

I began to notice that in both people and systems, the issue was often not a lack of intelligence, capacity, or care—but a misalignment between potential and environment. A kind of inner overgrowth. A drying out of roots. The original energy and intention were still there, but the conditions no longer supported their growth.

We were asking the wrong question.

Not “What’s the problem?”
But: What’s in the field?
What’s ready to grow?
What are the conditions that will allow the real work, the real life, to emerge?

Around the same time, we were using the Barrett Cultural Transformation Tools to map values across sectors, communities, and teams. Through this, we began to see the invisible: the deeper patterns of resonance, tension, possibility. We could feel where energy was flowing and where it was stuck. We could name where the green shoots were appearing, even in complex, fragmented systems.

It was never just about fixing.
It was always about listening to the field.

And so, a new way of thinking began to take root in me; not about the path, but about the ground. This is the essence of what I now call The Gift Field. It is not a method or programme. It is a living framework, a map, a compass, and a way of moving that begins with a different orientation:

Not “What’s the goal?”
But “What are the gifts here, and what wants to grow?”

The Gift Field invites us to look not at what’s missing, but at what’s latent. It asks us to stop fixing, and start cultivating.
It helps us move from abstract change to embodied resonance.
It allows us to design our life and work in a way that honours our deeper pattern—our vitality, creativity, and contribution.

Mapping Your Unique Field

So how do we begin?

We start by mapping the field. And for that, I use the Gene Keys Hologenetic Profile – a powerful, poetic tool for identifying your core gifts and life themes. It’s a personal field map: one that reveals not only what you carry, but how your life wants to move.

The Gene Keys help us recognise the deeper geometry of our nature. They guide us to the four foundational coordinates of your field:

  • Life’s Work – what you’re here to do
  • Evolution – what grows you through challenge
  • Radiance – what keeps you well and vital
  • Purpose – the deeper why beneath your expression

This is not a diagnostic. It’s an invitation. Each person’s profile is a unique expression of potential. When we learn to read the field, we stop chasing fixed goals and start cultivating the right soil. We shift from burnout to alignment. From striving to resonance.

The Gift Field offers a way to bring your life and work back into relationship with what is real and alive in you now. It’s especially useful when:

  • You’re at a threshold or in transition
  • You want to make a meaningful change, but not just repeat old patterns
  • You want to create something rooted, sustainable, and joyful
  • You want to live and lead from essence, not performance

This is where my work now lives. Through retreats, coaching, and creative guidance, I support women and changemakers to reimagine how they live, work, and offer their gifts to the world.

The Gift Field is not about fixing the self.
It’s about returning to the ecology of your own design, and tending the life that wants to grow from there.
